I am planning on riding my motocycle from Omaha, Ne to Reno, NV the first week of May. Has anyone done this lately and if so, what kind of weather and roads am I likely to encounter. I plan on going I-80 most of the way.

Thanks,
Mike

Well, as you probably know, your biggest worries in Nebraska will be a thunderstorm, a rainy spring day, or wind. You could have a cooler day the first week in May, but it is more likely to be pleasant. Road Construction will be starting up too.

You might also want to post this on each states forum.

Not a specific answer to your question, but if you have the time I would recommend moving off of I80 in Nebraska and taking the state highways that are both north and south of the interstate.

I80 for the most part follows the Platte River so is in a very flat area - people refer to it as boring.

Getting just a few miles out of that river valley you get some variety. Highway 92 on the North side or Highways 6 (Nebraska First Highway) or Highway 136 (aka Heritage Highway (http://www.visitnebraska.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=198&Item id=305 - broken link)) on the South side. All 3 parallel the interstate.

Here is a nice reference for road trips in Nebraska. Nebraska Tourism
