so i am coming into JFK via SLC on Monday, March 7th via JetBlue.

flight is scheduled to land at 6:16am.

i am trying to figure out if i can make it onto a Delta flight to San Juan, PR at 9:15am.

usually i'd say yes, but here's the caveat. i need to get to long-term parking to drop my cold weather stuff off and pick up my warm weather luggage.

is there any chance i can make this work?

thanks!

Ya you can totally make your connection. Look online or call ahead to figure out your transportation to and from parking. Shouldn't be an issue.

You have TSA Pre? I don't fly out of JFK all that often, but I assume Monday morning there could be a cluster.

And if your plane into JFK is delayed for some reason or another then what...

I would say yes. Say you give yourself 90 minutes for getting to your car and switching bags. That puts you back at the airport at 8:00 to get through security. You'll be fine.

Yes

Overnight flights are rarely late. Fair-weather delays are primarily caused by congestion and at that time of night there isn't any.

Use Uber to get to and from your parking spot. It is very efficient.

If it were me I would allow more than 3 hours for what you want to do. Will you have checked baggage from SLC? Will you be checking the baggage you get from your car? Are you parked in one of the airports long term parking lots or a private parking lot? How often does the shuttle run? How long does the shuttle take to get to where you are parked? Since you are going international what is the latest you can show at the gate?

If you have to wait for checked baggage it could be 45 minutes or more before your bag hits the belt. If you just miss the shuttle you might be at the 1hr 15min mark before heading to your car. Probably should plan for 30 to 40 minutes before you get back to the terminal. Delta has several departures around 9 am. The check in counter could be crowded. Then there is the TSA.

FYI...the Jet Blue flight from SLC was 107 minutes late arriving into JFK today. Not sure it was weather related or something else The Delta flight left on time. You would have had zero chance of pulling this off.
