The first place I thought of was Bend, OR, when I saw the title of this thread. And there it was, in the first response! What a wonderful place, it has year-round activities of all types, a very nice climate, but prices have gone up a lot in the last 15 years. I think they'll go up more, so it's a safe place to invest.
I also like the western side of the Rockies, many spots in western Colorado.
Also parts of Idaho.
Hamilton, Montana.
And there's still a lot of affordable property in the far-southern mountains of New Mexico, from Silver City to Ruidoso to Cloudcroft.
Show Low, Pinetop area of Arizona. Ski Sunrise has some of the best skiing and more golf courses than you can count. Also fishing, hunting, camping, hiking, off-roading, & just beautiful country. Pull up the Chamber of Commerce.
We are looking for a good mountain retreat ( anywhre in the country) that is close to skiing in the winter and has good golf courses in the summer,,,, There must be hundreds of good locations around the country for these activities.
For instance Beaver Creek Colorado, Lake Tahoe Califonia are good examples of what I am talking about,, but there must me some places that I am not familar with that offer these same amenities at more appealing prices. Both of these places are pretty pricey. I would like to find a place that is up and coming and has not been overpriced YET,,,
Your ideas and suggestions would be greatly appreciated
