There was a BIG Southwest sale last week. I purchased a Tucson - Dayton RT for $310 RT and Tucson is a pretty expensive fare city (as is Dayton).
These days, you book a good fare NOW and reschedule later if you find a lower fare ... as long as you will be able to use Southwest credits before they expire.
One other thing to consider. There are six airports in Southern California and five airports within 125 miles of Columbus You *MIGHT* try the alternative airports to look for a cheaper flight. In OHIO, generally, it is cheaper to fly into Cleveland (CLE) than other Ohio airports.
Airfarewatchdog is very useful for finding inexpensive fares.
So I'm able to switch flights if I see a cheaper one because it's southwest? It lowered down to $174 and has been that way for a few days now.

Yes but you won't get your money back. You'll get a credit good for one year. So if you figure you'll fly on southwest in the next year then it's as good as money.
