Just saw a Thanksgiving sale on Southwest so thought I might visit somewhere I've never been. Not planning on going home for Thanksgiving since I'll be there for Christmas. Where would be a good city for a single person with no plans on Thanksgiving? Thinking of New Orleans but not sure what the weather will be like around that time.

No plans. It's just a Thursday off from work for me. If you do travel that weekend, it is best to fly on Thursday and come back Saturday or Monday. Avoid flying on the Wednesday and coming back on the Sunday. Those are the busiest travel days...of the year, I think!

I will be in South Africa, we're leaving out the Monday before and will come back the Wednesday after Thanksgiving.

New Orleans may not be a bad place to go. I would also suggest DC, you may luck out and get nice weather. If weather is important to you, I would also suggest Miami or Las Vegas.

Nowhere. I hate flying at holidays so I avoid it at all costs. For Christmas we'll go visit family the weekend before but be home by the time the big travel rush starts.

I agree with the not traveling part on holidays. It's a nightmare made worse around holidays. I have a friend that has no one and no family so we will include her in our cozy meal at home. There will be lots of champagne so driving will be out of the question.

Nowhere. We try to not travel on Thanksgiving weekend as that's when we decorate our house for Christmas.

I will ask to work, it beats the uncomfortable silence at my Brothers house.
I've tried so hard to become friends with SIL.

Perhaps someday my Brother will figure out why less and less of his family members go to his family functions.
We all tried for the kids when they were younger, it's just crappy now.
I refuse to spend another Holiday in misery..
