I'm planning to get a 10ft U-Haul truck with a car trailer to bring some furniture and my car home from Rochester, NY to Long Island, NY. If I were to take the suggested GPS route bridges (G.W. and Throgs Neck) I'd encounter about $85 in bridge tolls. Is there a better route I could take so I don't have to pay crazy amounts for driving over a bridge?

$85 is pretty normal.
I commuted for work from Smithtown to Tarrytown. The daily toll itself was $15.00

Perhaps you can take Tachonic, to save what? $5.00 and burn $30 worth more gas?

If the furniture is not worth it then sell it on Craigslist and buy new one on LI

Tappan Zee will be cheaper than GW (11.50-13.75$ as you'll be 3L-4L from the looks of it). Crossing I-84 in Newburgh would be cheaper still but longer, through US-9 or Taconic Pkwy). You're not going to avoid $26-33 for Throgs Neck or any bridge into LI unless you go through the city (e.g. Queensboro).
