US Airways baggage policy changes May 5
US Airways passengers prone to overpacking need to lighten up starting May 5.
The Tempe airline today said it will start charging $25 for a second checked bag. It also raised the price of checking a third bag from $80 to $100.

I think United started a new trend when they started charging for extra luggage. Im still a simple one-carry on and one-duffle bag type of gal.
Heres an idea, when packing, whatever doesnt fit into your bags, simply layer your clothes: wear the extra! Wjho cares if youre wearing 3 shirts or 3 pairs of socks.... (Had to beat Mike to the comment 'cause I knew he would have thought of the same thing).

When I saw the heading, I thought I was going to read that US Air was going to start sending your bags to your actual destination.

LMAO!!! Good one. Better yet, they would send them on the EXACT same flight YOU were on. Now THAT would be a novel idea.

I don't fly US, but that really makes things difficult for a lot of people. As a college student, when I go home I typically HAVE to bring a lot of clothes back because the only clothes I leave at home are out of season (ie I have my winter clothes with me and summer clothes at home). When I fly home, I already have to pack my luggage full of books to store there. It's getting to be just as expensive to bring things home with me flying than it would be just to ship it all.

As people moan about paying one cent over $49, and the cost of oil soars, guess what?
