I absolutely love riding the bus, especially a double-decker (they have a lot of them with the Megabus company and I rode one from London to Oxford last year). But the bus, while exciting to me, takes too long if you have to travel a great distance. In such cases, I prefer flying, even though the bus remains my favorite mode of transportation.
I fly usually twice per year, but I hate being on a plane now more than 4 hours. I drive mostly, giving me a chance sightseeing along the way. I may drive up to 8000 miles during a vacation trip lasting 6 to 8 weeks. I also like train travel if the opportunity presents itself. Last year did this from Boston to NYC.
By the way .. what is 'hand gliding'? Sounds ... sexy.
It's not sexy. Hands don't work very well for gliding. I tried it once when I became separated from the helicopter I was flying in...it didn't end well.
There's no way I can pick just one. To me, ALL forms of transportation are enjoyable. I enjoy driving, particularly in more rural areas. I love flying too, notwithstanding the security hassles. For short distances, I enjoy riding on buses, though I wouldn't want to do it for a long trip. And I love trains, as long as either (1) I don't have to spend the night on them, or (2) if I do, I get a private room instead of sitting in the coach car. And don't even get me started on ships: I can't say enough good things about them!
Of course, one's preferred means of travel depends on many factors. So, for the sake of comparison, let's say that I'm traveling alone on a business trip. If I'm traveling to a major city within a few hours of where I live, I'd prefer to take the train; and then use the bus or subway at my destination. If I'm going within a few hours to someplace where the train doesn't go, I'd prefer to drive. If I'm going somewhere that's more than maybe 5 or 6 hours of ground-based travel time away, I'd prefer to fly. (Sadly, I can't imagine a present-day scenario where taking a ship would be feasible for a business trip.)
