Residence Inn and Homewood Suites both work. If you're on more of a budget, Comfort Suites--Some of them are not bad, but they are more hit and miss than the first two. All include breakfast which is a big time and $$ saver when traveling with kids.

Another loyal fan of Hilton brands here. We probably stay at Embassy or Homewood Suites about 70% of the time when we travel.

In addition to the popular breakfast with the yummy cooked to order omelets, Embassy Suites also have a free happy hour (including mixed drinks).

Be sure to joint their Hilton Honors reward program, and book directly trough that site for the lowest guaranteed rates. The various travel sites out there can never beat them, and I check every time.

Residence inn is usually a good bet. Some hamptons, hyatts and Hilton garden inns also offer that and I'm sure there are others. We generally do Airbnb when traveling as a family so we have a full kitchen but if not residence inn is usually the go to. Of course I have a ton of free nights from years of business travel so I'm biased...

Courtyard by Marriott used to be all suites - separate bedroom and living area, with a door between them. Don't know if they're still that way, but we relied on them when our twins were 2, 3, and 4. It was wonderful to have a little adult time to ourselves!

I worked at the Courtyard by Marriott for several years. 90% of the rooms were single rooms, not separate rooms. Each hotel had a few suites but those are the exception. They were NEVER set up as a suite hotel like Residence Inns, Springhill Suites and a coule of their other brands.

Marriott Towne Place Suites offers one bedroom suites and some two bedroom suites. We stayed at one in December in Boca, and it was great. Bigger and more private (separate rooms) than Springhill Suites.
