Yes! I grew up in the food/restaurant business, thanks to my father. In fact, pre kids hubby and i would travel just for food and plan our activities around the town/food.
now with two small boys, one of whom is very good adventurous eater; we still travel but some of places like Disney isn't really a food planned vacation. It was more for our kids, and we make great memories regardless. However, other places we've travelled with kids have made a point to check out some food spots on our bucket list.
It's a factor but not the sole reason for most trips. We have done food-themed trips (and wine) and also gone camping and lived off the land. It all depends on where we want to go and how we want to travel.
I'm seriously considering a trip to Porto based on the pictures of the food I'm seeing there. Plus when I went to Lisbon the food there was so good I'm sure it's just as good if not better there.
The type of food a city has has got to be one of the top most considerations for me (outside of climate/landscape/people/architecture) that I use to pick cities I want to visit. Must be the obvious glutton in me. I actually usually even have a list of specific places I want to eat before ever visiting a city.
Can anyone else relate?
I do exactly the same thing. I love to travel and experience food and drinks in other countries. That's way more important to me than art museums.
Oh yes, mainly in Italy. The Abruzzo year before last, Naples last year, Sicily this year.
We discovered some wonderful food while driving around eastern Europe and staying in smaller towns like Olomouc and Durnstein. The food was very good (and cheap) in Krakow too.

Any particular recommendations for Krakow? Heading there around New Years and am curious.
