have some questions that could not find answers by Googling--
1) if a walking tour takes basically 30 min or an hour or more--how long does it take to download it...
2) can I make a big folder on my computer of these MP3 files and then email them to him at one time to download to HIS IPod?
I have cable internet--how long would emailing a big file like that take?
Can we do drag and drop if he brings his IPod over before he goes to Rome?
3) are there any tricks to making sure what I hear and save are transferred to his IPod w/o problems...
4) can ANY MP3 file be uploaded or downloaded to an IPod--I think we got him the 8 MG video for Christmas...do I have to do any kind of "transforming" them into an IPod friendly format?

1. depends on the bitrate of the file, usually MP3s are encoded at 128kbps (kilo bits per second), 8 bits = 1 byte, so that's 16KB/sec. x 3600 secs/hr = 57600KB/1024 = 56 Megs. per hour roughly
2. You can email it one at a time or just zip them into a single file and email the zip file. Depends on the speed of your cable modem, usually 150-300Kbps or so.
3. He will download it to his iPod using iTunes, it will tell him if there are errors transferring it.
4. Almost any MP3, certain bitrates are not supported by the iPod but those are rare. In any case iTunes can convert from many unsupported formats.. there is a "convert for iPod" option within the software.
