Default Destination Christmas Holiday

Hi,

We are considering a destination Christmas holiday this year. We did this before and went to Puerto Rico (beach) one year and to the a horse ranch in New Mexico another year. We've been on cruises before but not for a holiday. My youngest son wants to do a cruise but I am not so sure. Please share any ideas that you may have for destinations.

Thanks!

One idea that I have been kicking around is Montreal.
Quebec might be a very Christmasy location.
Years ago we did a cruise with the in-laws for Thanksgiving (they paid! )
It was fun if you like that sort of thing--something for everyone in the family to do at any given time.

I concur about Quebec. I prefer Quebec city to Montreal but both have excellent winter festivals with lots of activities and events.
How about skiing in Vermont or the Rockies ?

Best place for Christmas to me though would be Austria or Bavaria. Nobody does Christmas like the Germans and Austrians. And New England is about as gorgeous as it gets during the festive season.

I have to second a trip to either Bavaria or Austria - there are so many traditions that are followed, it's a lot of fun. If you want to stay closer to home, Vermont is great at Christmas, especially if you like to ski.

As to a cruise, I did one a couple weeks after Christmas. I was curious how Christmas is celebrated on the ship. I spoke with a lof of the staff, and they told me they really go out to make Christmas fun, especially for families. I've never done it, but it has a lot of appeal....especially not having to cook Christmas dinner!
