Santorini in August (cruise ship, hotel, hotels, Greece)

Looking for some advice on where to stay in Santorini. My fiancée and I are planning a few days (maybe 4 or 5) in Santorini the last of week August for our honeymoon. We are not sure of what part of the island we should get a hotel. We are looking to relax, sightsee, etc. Not much for the clubs or nightlife. I think Fira is more lively compared to Oia which is more couples, right?? We are expecting large crowds, expense, lines, etc....but don't think we should pass up on this island in Greece while we are out there.


Any advice will help. End of August is around the corner and I'm sure hotels are booking up at this point (and soon getting more expensive).

There are some beautiful places on airbnb. Places I would love to stay. When the cruise ships come in, it gets very crowded in the tourist areas. Other times, it's not bad and can be pretty quiet there. Assuming you will be on foot, just remember that everything is always up or down hill. Bring shoes you can walk in!

Santorini is beautiful and romantic at any time, and August will be perfect!

Lovely hotel!

But note that the hotel is in Fira, not Oia.
