I hate to say this, because of the genial attitude of the people and their generosity to tourists, but, for me I have to say St. Lucia. I discovered the Caribbean heat is just unpleasant for me... tolerable, but barely (hey, I'm a true Canadian I guess). I enjoyed the vacation, overall... but it's a quiet island, a little too laid back. I lean towards favouring vacations where I get more urban buzz and culture, I think. The Caribbean in general isn't really my thing, I don't think. I don't get much out of sitting next to a pool drinking till I drop, that kind of thing...

Grand Cayman. The water was gin-clear and the beaches were lovely but the whole place was just a little too "white-bread" for me. Once was enough.

I'll give this a shot since I don't gamble & occasionally go. Primarily the shows/concerts/excellent restaurants (not the buffets), also I'm a fan of good magic & LV is the home base of several of the top magicians, some lesser famous, but still excellent, are in the lounges. One could stay at one of the "out of town" casino resorts (not on the strip or downtown) for a very reasonable price & have pools, movies, spa, etc.. for a nice break. I try to time a trip for a specific event/concert etc...

Day trips to Red Rocks, Grand Canyon & there are a couple of hiking spas 2 hours away in St George UT that I like to spend several days at in the canyon country there. I haven't been to Lake Mead/Hoover Dam yet & my next trip will be specifically to look at real estate to see if retiring there is an option worth considering.

Typically 2-3 days on the strip is plenty for me but if I break it up it's not too bad.

But for whatever reason........ you're good with ONE visit in your lifetime. The reasons can vary: it was expensive, it was a little too far, there are other places you'd rather see, there wasn't a ton to do, etc.

Tell us where you went and a little bit about it. Then tell us why you're unlikely to revisit.

Please stay away from terrible locations where the overwhelming climate of your visit was negative or underwhelming. I'm looking for GOOD to VERY GOOD spots that you're content to cross off your list and move on. Here are a few of mine:

-Puebla de Zaragoza, Mexico: Very charming colonial city with an impressive historic center. The architecture is pretty amazing and parts of it made you think you were in Spain. As the culinary capital of Mexico the food was very good and had offerings from all over the world. Very laid back with friendly locals.

won't revisit because: It just took too long to get to by bus/car. Where I live airfare is more expensive than Europe If you connect in Mexico City. A week was about 3 days too long and made us wish we split time with Mexico City. Not enough attractions to warrant a single trip. Landlocked. Air pollution.

-Brussels, Belgium: Wonderful architecture. Grand Place was amazing. The beer, waffles, and chocolate were worth the price of admission.

won't revisit because: While there were some scenic spots (especially near Grand Place) the majority was a little rough around the edges, dirty and worn. Lots of scaffolding and construction. (The dome of the Palace of Justice has been in scaffolding for 15+ years!!!) Being the capital of the EU the whole places (including the subway) seems to close up shop after 5PM. A bit underwhelming if using it as a leg with other European capitals. Brussels is a great base to visit far more interesting places like Ghent or Bruges but not a destination per se.

-Key West, FL: Party central, especially on Duval Street. Good time city. Something fun for just about everyone. Excellent Fish tacos. Great for cruise ship port.

unlikely to revisit because: You're in Florida and there are less crowded more scenic places. Takes too long to get to (Even from Miami). A little "too" touristy. Tropical drinks/bars too expensive. Very small.

now some of yours!
Venice! It was nice to walk around, see the gondolas and things of that nature but super crowded and after my expensive water taxi to the airport, I'm good!!

I went on a cruise to the Bahamas and it was nice especially Half Moon Cay but I doubt I'd go back again.

1. Costa Rica. Did a Christmas/New Year trip there several years ago. It had been on my list for a long time and while I enjoyed it, I don't see any reason to return. Prices are high and Hawaii is better.
2. Dubai. Was there in 2014 on my way to South Africa. It reminded me of Las Vegas without the fun. Very little to do but lots of glitzy buildings. Once was definitely enough.
3. Poland. Glad I saw the sights but kind of a depressing population. Probably won't ever go back.
4. Tahiti. Stopover on the way to New Zealand. Dirty and expensive. Out islands were better but nowhere near as nice as Maui (where I live).
5. Chile. Was just there in January. Interesting sights and nice people but extremely dirty. Dog crap everywhere. I enjoyed Argentina much more.
6. Tibet. Was there recently. Also high on my bucket list since 1978 when I visited Nepal, but even though I enjoyed it, I probably would not return.
7. Helsinki. Always held a place in my imagination. Finally visited last month. Nice! Doubt I will ever return.
8. Darwin. Visited on my second trip to Australia. Hot and humid year-round. No beach, just mud flats and a harbor. Glad I went but wouldn't go back.
9. Jamaica. I enjoyed it once but it was way too dodgy to ever return.
10. St. Thomas. Same as Jamaica. Beautiful but very racist against white people. Is now considered dangerous as well.
11. Morocco. Fascinating but once was enough!
12. Colombia. Scary but intoxicating! It's gotten better lately but I probably won't go back.

That's probably enough for now. I've visited more than 100 countries.

I can remember sitting in CDG waiting for our flight home and saying 'I'm glad we saw Paris. It's a wonderful city. But I don't feel the need to come back any time soon."

And yet go forward a few years, and we're talking about going there again to see some things we missed the first time, so I guess never say never?

Really? I LOVE New Orleans. All our trips have been done on the quick, in a hurry, on a shoestring, or on our way somewhere else.
I'd love to go and spend a week exploring....be able to walk around (very difficult for me), explore many more houses, shops, hotels, and restaurants than we've seen so far, check out different parts of the city, visit the zoo, Audubon Park, see a parade.
Reason we don't? Spouse isn't enamored with NOLA. Can't walk very far. I should have done more when I was younger.

Now Paris...I never felt the need to visit, and spouse was not thrilled either, but we went with a high school group as chaperones. We LOVED Paris! It was fascinating. Contrary to the warnings at home, we found the French people warm and welcoming. Beautiful vistas, enthralling history and architecture. I was disappointed in the food, not nearly as good as they said it would be, but that's what you get when you're with a high school group. We swore we'd go back, but I doubt we will.

I can't even get the spouse to rent an RV for a weekend down the road...and he's said that one day we'd buy one and travel the country. Maybe his second wife cany pry him away from work!

Machu Picchu - Beautiful place and a stunning view from the top. At the same time visiting Machu Picchu will cost $200 once you take into account everything, and it's just a headache to organize the entire trip there. I really wish the Peruvian government would make it easier to visit, without all the annoying paperwork
