As someone who lived in South Korea, I would highly recommend NOT going to visit North Korea.

Lets see how that works out.
For someone who doesn't care about religion, this doesn't seem so different to each other. Christian believe in some guy that lived like 2.000 years ago and is supposed to do some good stuff according to old books. They bow in front of a wooden cross. North Koreans believe in someone who lived like 50 years ago and was the leader of their country. They were also told strange stories about things that weren't true. They bow in front of a metal statue of their former leaders. For me, it's actually the same rubbish, but well that is just me and I do not want to tell people what they are supposed to think, believe or do. Neither here nor in North Korea.

It just seems like there are no shortage of places that are dangerous, but still safer and more interesting than N. Korea...
The jungles of Africa
The outback
The streets of Iraq

North Korea is not dangerous at all. I mean, I do not have an American passport so basically they do not care about me, and just see me as a method to get some cash. There is basically no crime, no robbery, no theft, no gunmen shooting around. Sometimes you have the felling that its really scary, for example when we visited air bases surrounded by soldiers and old MIG-15/19 airplanes. You don't realize where you actually are at that moment. But then, North Koreans are usually ALWAYS rational, and they will not risk any unnecessary trouble. Otto was an exception, and I believe something went terribly wrong, they did not intend to kill him.

take your religion bashing elsewhere.

There is a Religion Forum here at City-Data where you can bash religion all day long.

I am sorry, if you misunderstood my post.

I am not bashing anything. As I said, everybody can believe what he or she wants. That is not my business. But you actually cannot criticize the leadership cult in North Korea without reflecting irrational things that other people in this world are doing.

Bashing a country about which you don't know anything isn't very smart either.

Obviously, you didn't. And the discussion you are opening has nothing to do with the topic of this thread.

As I understood it, the religion part is a metaphor how N.K citizens pretty much worship their leaders like they're gods.
