Just posted this on Instagram after putting Google Maps to good use before and during a trip last week. It may not be news to a lot of people, but it was the first time I used Maps for trip planning and, with one exception (a failure on my part to anticipate spotty cell coverage), it worked really well.

I always use Google streetview to get the feel and to see whether I want to go there or not.

We use it a lot, download areas for offline use so you can use with no local service.

Also = mark things with save option so they show up pinned, like your guest house or whatever tourist attraction. We've even marked paths for hiking by pining spots on the GPS map, much easier to get a sense of how far along the hike you are
