Dubrovnik is a must. Korcula and Hvar are nice too. Mostar or Bay of Kotor are nice side trips from Dubrovnik

You'll love it... go! A place off the radar for most N Americans but Europeans know about it. I would consider driving down the entire coast north to south ending around Dubrovnik. Try to get out on a boat to stay/explore some of the islands too.

We love Croatia. We were there as part of a trip to Croatia, Slovenia and Montengro in April. There is a thread on that trip in this Travel forum. We have already posted a number of pictures in that thread.

Anyway, Croatia is real gem. The people of nice, english is widely spoken and the country is not overrun with tourists. Plus there is the great food and wine.

If you like history, you should go to **** on the Istian peninsula and see the roman ruins.

Other great places to see are Rovinj, Zadar, Split with its Roman palace and Zagreb. However, the real "must see" for many tourists is Dubrovnik.

Here is a shot of Dubrovnik.

Beautiful view! I'm glad you enjoyed your trip, sounds lovely. What is the thread titled? I want to go here and couple with Italy. It's calling me back to do at a slower pace. The first time was so rushed.

I went in the late summer a couple years ago. Stayed for a week, and made Split our base. Took day trips to Hvar, Brac, Trogir, Brela, and Krka. We skipped Dubrovnik because we (poorly) budgeted going there and back on the same day, and our host warned us about the unpredictability of the boarder crossings in Bosnia; basically we could be waiting a while. We also visited Plitvice Lakes on the way back to Zagreb. It's an incredible country and I really want to go back.
