Aruba, perfect weather over 300 days of the year. tons of restaurants , and fun. week before christmas could be a good deal.

Key west or St Petes Beach, FL., is not bad, but looking at 75 degrees max.

If you decide to go to Hawaii, I recommend Kauai. Poipu, on the southern side of the island, is usually sunny even in the winter. It's my favorite island, and I live on the Big Island.

"likes long walks on the beach"

Is it warm enough there in December? I was in Charleston and Hilton Head a couple of years ago in November and found it to be rather cold.

Look for cruises that depart from Galveston. You could hit beaches in multiple countries.

We were down from Pennsylvania, so it seemed quite comfortable. Daily average high at the end of the month is 60*F. In Harrisburg it is 40*F so it was a big improvement. YMMV.

Second the Aruba suggestion. Kapikap beat me to it.

Bali, Indonesia. Beautiful beaches, beautiful people, beautiful scenery. Peaceful, relaxing, inexpensive (once you get there). I love it.

Grand Cayman is safe, and fairly easy to get to. In the past there was a direct connection from Houston, although that was 5-10 years ago.
