Google maps shows three routes with all arriving at Denver. The difference is before Denver. Everyone shows the northern route through Atlanta, Tennessee, then Missouri and westward. Google shows a southern route across the panhandle of Florida and then through Texas and north toward Denver. They also show a middle route to Atlanta then cutting west and traveling zigzag to Denver.
I kind of like the southern route though it is suppose to be 2 hours slower. I have driven the northern route years ago. We are talking about 2900 miles so two hours isn't much in my book.
My concern includes weather, construction zones, road conditions, and frequency of pet friendly hotels as well as traffic, etc. No joy riding, relocation.
We are leaving August 8th and expect to cover about 500 miles a day.
Any thoughts on the differences in routes especially this time of the year?

Your best bet will be through I 10 to Houston, 45 to Dallas and 287 to Raton pass and 25 to Denver.
10 and 45 would be a breeze if you pick your times wisely to avoid the inner city rides during the peak hours .
