But it’s a savings over the full-night rate for those who don’t need the full night. Recharge says its app has drawn interest from travelers needing a nap after an overnight flight and from nursing mothers looking for some privacy and comfort.

"Nap" ... yeah, right!

I love how the article avoids what renting a room by the hour usually means.

Default Would you pay $120 for an hour in a hotel room?

I think it would depend on who is going to be in there with me for the hour.

they do an hourly & 4 hours, in Tokyo, hostel/hotel. Makes sense to me for business people who need a short nap.

Did many times when I was a teen. Think it was 25 an hour or 40 for 4 if memory serves me. Always opted for the 4 hour as I move at my own pace so to speak lol

Hotel by the hour is very appealing to me.

But recharge has two problems. First, it only serves a couple of cities, NYC and SF. Second, the price is sort of ridiculous...I am willing to pay 20$-30$ per hour, including hidden fees. But with recharge, you'll probably spend over $100 to stay just a couple of hours.

No way. I would sleep in my car before paying this fee.
