Indeed! A ticket to Vancouver is cheaper than one to Hong Kong.

Sorry but those places look and feel nothing like Asia.

I guess Taiwan is just more ... low-key.

I would say Japan, Thailand, and the Philippines. The U.S. has a lot of people flying outbound to China and India but that isn't all tourists flying. A lot of them are people traveling for business or they are immigrants visiting family back home.

I think it is safe to say the number of people flying to India from the U.S. for a leisure vacation or something is extremely low.

From the eastern U.S. it's an extremely long travel time to get to Asia period. Very few Americans travel to Asia as a tourist at all in their life.

India does have an advantage now over China in that one can apply for a tourist visa online, you just print out your confirmation and show the nice man with large mustache at immigration when arriving. They join some other countries that do similar like Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Myanmar, etc. that have an online application for visa on arrival option.

Easiest/cheapest way for China IMO is fly to Hong Kong, get dalu visa there then take the train to Guangzhou.

Yeah these are the only reasons people visit these countries Have you three ever left your moms basement?

Let the adults that know what they're talking about discuss traveling and the world, k thanks.

Thailand is one of the most visited countries in the world due to a number of reasons. If you like large cities Tokyo is considered a must see city. The Philippines is nice because most things are reasonably priced once you get there, if you know where to go.

I don't live in the United States, currently in South America. I once lived in Thailand for two years. Over the last three years I've spent more time in Thailand than any other country, including where my Mom has a basement in USA.

I never said that the only reason people visit Thailand was for any reason related to sex industry, that is a tiny minority of visitors. However there are an awful lot of older drunken expats with much younger Thai wives, and for most of them their situation is exactly as I described. Go out to any city in Isan and tell me otherwise.

Now please come back and help us out with more brilliant analysis like telling us things in a poor third world SE Asia country are cheap.
