This should help:

Priceline.com screens participating hotels carefully and updates our information periodically to ensure the validity of our ratings. Our rating system may sometimes differ from those of other rating systems that you may be familiar with. We do not warrant or guarantee that our star rating system is equal to or consistent with any other star rating system and reserve the right to change a hotel’s rating at any time with or without notice.

Actually, that's the user review ratings. If you scroll down (next to the map), you'll see it's actually 2.5 stars.

Yup, TripAdvisor is more trustworthy.

I've actually really liked my La Quinta stays and would be quite kind in any reviews. But the hard product is limited service/budget business category hotel, and someone who got it as a 'four star' with the expectation that of four star amenities including all day restaurant and room service has good reason to be disappointed.

What do you expect from a company that doesn't tell you what airline you will be flying until you have bought and paid for the tickets?

I only use priceline bidding for hotels only.

I know the tricks, so I won't bid "4 stars" in Broken Arrow area. There are probably plenty of less informed folks.

Priceline often marks a 3-star hotel as a 4-star. But La Quinta is a 4 star? It's ridiculous.

Just in general, I would rather stay in a brand new budget chain hotel than an older, tired full service hotel.
