Here are my few:

Italy - honeymoon and first trip to Europe for both me and my wife. Completely opened our eyes to international travel and have not turned back since.

Istanbul - loved the architecture, history and food. At the time felt like an extremely exotic trip and very different than our standard America and Europe 101 destinations.

Iceland - the other worldly natural beauty was so impressive that it caused us to focus on vacations in beautiful locales outside of cities. Led to subsequent trips to places like Big Sur, Banff, West Ireland, Norway fjords, etc., which we loved.

My favorite so far:

Flew into Brussels, landing on the day after Christmas.. Stayed a few days, then went to Bruges for the day/night.

Took train to Amsterdam and stayed over New years.

Flew into Lisbon, stayed for 5 days. Went to the Zoo and a Benfica match while there.

Excellent Vacation!!!

Going on another one for our anniversary this year, too!
My favorite vacations are road trips.

Brazil. The beaches of Bahia, Salvador is the most tranquil, peaceful places in the world as far as I'm concerned.

Not to mention the architecture is some of the beautiful (and oldest) in the Americas.

Not the best but pretty good was Windjammer Barefoot cruise, like a pirate ship but full luxury. The company stop operating out of Miami in 2007. There's a company with the same name now but not sure if they're good

For us, it was three weeks on the Big Island, Hawaii. Had a rental vehicle and stayed at four different B&Bs around the island. Only times we set foot on a resort was once for lunch and once for a Luau. Rest of the time we just wandered the island and did different things. We still talk about how neat it was to have breakfast on our lanai and that evening throwing snowballs at each other up on Mauna Kea.

Costa Rica was amazing... gorgeous scenery, wonderful people, lots to do, and very inexpensive! We stayed at a charming little hotel with parrots in the lobbies, included meals, and basic amenities (for the time), for the equivalent of around $25 USD per night. Also had a great time in Turkey, Amsterdam, and Australia, among others.
