Friends that have gone have said itís not that big of a difference. Maybe youíve been going to the wrong Caribbean islands?

Other than food it was cheap for us in Sept.

Actually one of the cheaper countries we visited as far as flights, hotels, car rentals.

I'd avoid Northern Ireland, from the places I've already been to. Cold, expensive, and boring

Tahiti has both beautiful mountain backdrop and amazing water color.

The Bahamas or Turk and Caicos have beautiful water but not mountain. The mountainous ones like St Lucia has subpar beaches.

California, Florida, Mexico, or any place that involves a cruise ship.

Thanks for the perspective..... I hadn't considered that before. I always just figured why go all the way to Hawaii or Tahiti or other far away places of tropical beauty when I can hop a plane and be in the Caribbean in just a few hours.

I spent 10 or 11 days in Paris many years ago and LOVED it. I was traveling with a friend who was well experienced and we were able to stay and eat and tour very reasonably..... Would go back again in a heartbeat if the dollars were available to spare.

Overall, I would prefer to avoid cold and gloomy. I know that much depends on the timing of the trip, but I much prefer warm, sunny and sandy!!

You can fly nonstop to Tahiti from San Francisco now. Before, LA and Honolulu are your only options.

I agree with the first 3, but Georgia is beautiful. You are missing out.

I love Georgia and we've been considering moving there permanently in retirement, but come on South Africa is far more beautiful than Georgia. Not even close.

I could see dissing South Africa for lots of other reasons but beauty? Nah.
