First, tell the girl who lacks a passport to get one. Immediately.

I have a good friend who does one of these for a week every single year. They have done and enjoyed cruises. They have done resorts without meals, etc and those did not go well (I think they did Sea Ranch once and some fancy place in florida.) They did a city destination once (NYC???) and that nearly blew up the girl's friendships.

Their most favorite has been all inclusive resorts. It's the only thing they do anymore.

They have enjoyed Mexico, Jamaica, Dominican republic. And probably more I can't remember. They never leave the all inclusive where drinks and food are prepaid and FULLY included. They all fly into one city, then fly to the all inclusive together.

Another idea might be renting something thru vrbo or airbnb.

There's a lot more to Vegas than gambling. Shows, shopping, great restaurants, various attractions (small art galleries, zoos, etc). You can spend days there and never touch a slot machine or a poker chip.

January is a good time to go to Mexico.. Deals are easy to find and an AI resort, maybe outside of Cancun (like Isla Mujeres or Playa Del Carmen) would be what I recommend.

Mexico, at an all inclusive or a short cruise would be my votes. Have fun.

Catfancier,
Believe it or not my 4 college sorority sisters and I are doing.....Disneyworld. lol. We are staying at the 4 seasons luxury hotel at WDW. they have a great spa and pool. the weather will be nice but not to hot. We are doing Animal kingdom park for the safari and Epcot for the world show case.

and it's running us less than 800 per person including airfare from PHilly in a suite. I know it sounds goofy (pardon the pun) but we are really excited.

Las Vegas had a lot to do and also has some great spas (Qua at Caesar's, Encore, Bellagio, Mandarin). If you are staying at the hotel, a day pass to the spa is inexpensive and all of them have whirlpools, saunas and quiet resting areas.
Just watch the dates in January - the week of Jan 9 is the consumer Electronics show and it is very crowded. Also the week of Jan 23 with 3 large conventions.

January is a huge month for conventions in Vegas.

I think Celine Dion is at Caesars that month.
