Hi,

We are trying to pull something together on relatively short notice, perhaps for late January
2018.

Four college friends all in 60s now, one coming from Connecticut, one from Ohio, two from Texas.
All but one has passport though maybe she will hurry and get one.

Maybe 4-5 days tops. Would like destination with fun activities/attractions, shopping, a resort spa.
Three are relatively comfortable; one hoping to keep costs down .

Ideas flying around range from Scottsdale to San Fran to Charleston to Destin (though may be too cold even if we're not planning to surf haha.)

Don't know when school/spring breaks are but think we may be avoiding them, although I know
it is 'high' season in Scottsdale/Phoenix with all the snowbirds.

Ideas welcome!!!! Many thanks!

Think about a cruise. With your own group they can be a lot of fun.

Eastern or western Caribbean Cruise. Another possibility is South Padre Island off the Texas coast. Ft. Myers Florida for its beaches. Myrtle Beach. South Caolina.

I live slightly north of Destin. Late January is very hit or miss in terms of weather- it may be 65F and sunny; there can also be 4-5 days in a row where daytime highs struggle to break 45F and we're worrying about tender plants freezing overnight.

Yeah, I was most excited about Destin but one of us researched the temps and got scared ... thanks for the input!

San Diego will be quiet in January. We can have rain then or beautiful weather. The water is cool at the beach, but we usually have nice weather and you can walk along the sand. Hiking at Torrey Pines, visiting the zoo or museums at Balboa Park and if your group likes beer they have an amazing number of craft breweries to visit. You may also find some good airfare deals for January travel.
Since you have a group you may find an air bnb will be the least expensive to stay in.
