I have never been there but itís really nice and I would love to go there at least once in my life and they have a lot of convenience there such as dentist office, chiropractor office, barber shop, convenience stores, gift shop, movie theatre, laundromat, library, private showers, and even a food court! That place can park up to 900 trucks!

Can the general public use the facilities, or is it for truckers only?

In the north-west of England there is an award-winning motorway service station, and nearby is a separate truckstop services which the public can also use. https://www.visitcumbria.com/evnp/tebay-services/

It’s for truckers AND travelers as well but the website will have the information.

I thought it was required to stop there.

Speaking of I-80 & Iowa... aren't their rest stops great?
The soil depth/erosion displays are scary but interesting.

I stopped there 6 or 7 years ago. Its' a neat place. I wouldn't drive out of my way to see it.. I mean, it's basically a gas station on steroids.

They've unfortunately replaced many of the greasy spoons with chain places.. But we did stop there for breakfast when going from Des Moines to Chicago and strolled around it for 30 minutes or so.

The one in Walcott? Yes, I think in about 1982. In those days, they were an advertiser on Dave Nemo all night truckers radio progran on WWL.

It is a large truck stop with lot of options for food, gas and restaurants. Is it worth a stop? Certainly.

I would say that on my last ten trips through Iowa, I have stopped there twice. There are other places to stop along I-80 all along the road.

Yes, I have been there. Stumbled across it more or less by accident driving cross country a few years ago. Sort of a cross between a small mall, an auto store that supplies trucks, a diner and a rest stop. Bought a souvenir hat, talked to a truck driver while grabbing breakfast at the diner counter, looked at the cool truck accessories and moved on.

I wouldn't make a special trip to see it, but if you are on I80 anyway, why not?

There are quite a few good stops in small towns in Iowa that have great restaurants and there a few good attractions along the way.
