Hi guys!

I've got an opportunity to do a snorkel whale watch tour in Moorea in September. The price for the tour is reasonable and includes the snorkeling, hotel and lunches. I need to know what prices are outside of these items.

Yes, I know I can look at website which give averages of prices in Tahiti, but I'm interested in people who've actually been there (hopefully recently) and can give me prices on breakfasts, dinners, tours outside of the snorkeling, coffee, groceries, ferry to Moorea from Tahiti etc.

Also, I might stay over a few days in Tahiti and would appreciate a modestly priced hotel recommendation. I'll just be by myself so no need for the romantic over-water bungalow.

Oh, and yes, I know it's expensive. I'm just trying to get a handle on a budget, not try to figure out if I can afford it.

Thanks!

Tahiti is an absolute dump. Avoid. Moorea was quite pleasant but only spent one night there, not a huge amount to do, rent a scooter and tour around yourself.

Cant recall it being massively expensive, but for the most part in Tahiti and Moorea the food was pretty lousy. This was about 6 months ago.

Aremiti | Fast shuttle - Tahiti Moorea - Shipping for the ferry.

While I wouldn't go so far as to call Tahiti a dump, I do agree that there is no reason to spend a night in a hotel there; especially since the OP is already staying on Moorea and could just take a ferry across to see Papeete or the rest of Tahiti. If you want to spend a night or two away from Moorea, then choose a different island in French Polynesia.
