What are the best arrangements when a person is traveling around say Texas and needs 60 days in Dallasage, 60 in Houston 30 in Austin.

Its difficult to lease an apt for that time period. A hotel might be outrageously expensive but would need to be right downtown..

Try AirBnB, perhaps work out a longer term arrangement with the owner.

I will but the only site I tried still wanted $150 a day. Not sure if it was AirBB

AirBnB has Dallas availability at $40+/night, you could work out a long term deal for less with owner I bet.

It mostly depends on how rigid their schedule is and what the owner needs.

A furnished sublet is available over the summer ~90days.
It's a nice place and the 60days you NEED fall within the 90.
Does your per diem rate allow you to afford the other 30 days too?
If so then you're golden.

VRBO would work similarly.

There are "extended stay" places like this for less than $100/night, https://www.extendedstayamerica.com/hotels/tx/dallas but doubt you'll find one right downtown.

It’s challenging. May sound insane, but try camping. Or rving it.

AirBnB & VRBO is the best bet for comfortable, affordable month long stays.

Might try Craigslist for sublets, but that's iffy.

RVing would be the easiest. Just haul your home from one place to the next.

There are always used RVs, travel trailers, 5th wheels for sale. Could sell it at the end of your sojourn for what you paid and really only have the cost of space rent.

RV parks often have resort type amenities, pools and so forth. Monthly rate is typically around $500 or so plus utilities.

I've done this a couple of times in different cities through VRBO. Just be sure you do a lot of research about the property you're considering renting -- talk (email) to the owner, ask lots of questions, look at pictures, check out the neighborhood, see what amenities are within walking distance -- unless you'll have a car, in which case check out where you'll be parking.
