My least favorite thing is getting sick when traveling on a vacation. On a 2 week trip to SE Asia, the second day in, I got severe inflammation of my entire right foot, painful symptoms similar to gout, & bad osteoarthritis on my left knee. I probably for walked too many hours on bad sandals my first day & had a bad gait (that alcohol caused me to ignore).
By the third day my pain was so crippling I went to the local ER, examined & given shots & meds & told to stay in bed for 7 days! How about using the hotel pool? No way. Halfway around the world & I spend the next 7 days in a hotel room getting room service & watching endless reruns of Law & Order which is what the English station seemed to play nonstop. Getting from my bed to the bathroom was torture..
So I could walk a little bit on day 11, with only 2-3 days left in-country I checked into a very high end hotel with a view of the sea from my room trying to salvage things.
I've also gotten stuck on a 14 hour full flight next to a crying baby, not fun.

That's normal in SE Asia. Our bodies just don't have the mechanism developed to fight the local bacteria, which is VERY vicious, and it's EVERYWHERE!
You are bound to get sick to your stomach when you travel and dine on the local food or drink the local water in that region.
Well, folks who are brought up in a certain environment, adapt and consider many things as "normal" which may seem a nuance and abnormal to you. If you don't smell curry near Indians then where else are you going to smell it? Near Norwegians?
The fuss made about experiencing a certain environment in a plane full of Indians is really not a complaint - but stating the obvious as if it was not expected. I see a lack of common sense.
I smell curry in markets and restaurants in many different countries, but that has nothing to do with how loony your post was.
- People who paid thousand to take an international flight aren't the ones without running water
- India also isn't a place where daily showers are useless, in dirty 3rd world countries you can still tell who showers regularly
- India doesn't have a huge majority that is vegetarian

I'm sorry but this is more looniness, it is not normal for travelers to SE Asia (of which there are millions to Thailand alone) to end up stuck in their room because they had symptoms like gout, osteoarthritis, and a swollen foot.
Also = eating local food isn't "bound" to make you sick. Some people get traveler's diarrhea from eating the local food, other people don't. There is no inherent property of food in SE Asia that makes westerners sick.
- condescending , obnoxious, threathening airliline /hotel employees. How dare you talk to me like that? The nerve of people depending on my dollars to stay in business.

While we're on the subject of stupid fees, we stopped using VRBO and Air B&B when Expedia bought them and added that nonsense "service fee" to all rentals. It was annoying enough for us as renters to pay a "cleaning fee" on their rental apartments, but then they tacked on an additional 4-9% "service fee" charge purely as a money grab. On a several day stay, that additional cost can be considerable. We haven't rented from them since, which is a shame, because we prefer the privacy of a stay at a private home or cabin rather than an impersonal hotel room.
Have you looked at homeaway? i don't know if their prices are any better but many are direct owner contact and 100% positive reviews. Many don't add frivolous cleaning fees and some even supply daily needs' items (linens, coffee, bath soap, beach towels, trash bags, etc.) as a courtesy. https://www.homeaway.com/?k_clickid=...FclGDAodv0gJSw

I am of Italian heritage, but I do not smell like clams casino or a chicken parm sandwich.
1.Sitting on a flight next to a person who hasn't bathed since the film Airplane! was released.
2.When on guided tours, people in the group who are always 15-30 minutes late. When my wife and I took a bus tour of Europe, this happened with the same four people who thought they were more important than the rest of us and time stopped for them. On cruises, the ship leaves latecomers at port, but on our trip the bus waited for them.
3.Lost or damaged luggage
4.Locals that are nasty to tourists. On one trip, my wife and I were turned away from a restaurant for no reason and told that a public beach was "private". That was the last time I vacationed to this place. I'll spend my hard-earned money in a place where my wife and I are appreciated and respected.
5 star hotels with bad food, dirty hotel rooms, bad plumbing
Plus cramped seats in dirty airplanes
Other than that I’m crazy about travel
This reminds me of a hotel my wife and I stayed at in Europe. It was under renovation, so certain elevators/hallways were closed off. We actually were staying on Floor 1 (2nd floor in America) but had to go up four levels only to go through a maze of hallways then go down a level and through another labyrinth of corridors before finding a functioning flight of stairs that led down to our room.
So, I just got back from a long trip. And I can think of a few things that annoy me about traveling: cramped airline seats, awful plane food, etc..
What are some of the that annoy you about traveling??
Public transportation (trains not so much) means cramped seats, a few folks with body odor and a few with horrific perfume, a baby crying, mouth-breather snoring person, some one who doesn't want others to eat peanuts because they don't want to use their epipen, weather causing delays, pat-down by TSA. It's a bonus, if one doesn't experience any of THAT.
Hotels mean loud air systems, big crack under the door, and frankenfood for so-called breakfasts. Bonus, if one doesn't have any of THAT.
With that perspective, the major annoyance is inadequate plumbing - eww.
