If you booked a flight using Travelocity you probably overpayed in the first place. That was your first mistake (the recommended process is to use a good search engine for tickets using various combinations of time and date, then booking directly with the airline).
Anyways for flight tickets it depends on what type of ticket you bought to determine if it's refundable or not, the cheapest tickets come with severe penalties. Not sure how Travelocity works but you probably gave up whatever control you have in terms of getting a refund with the airlines and then getting the cheaper flight regardless.

Dd714 is spot on. Great advice.
AND have up a lot of power if your flight is cancelled, delayed or whatever. Watch the airline day "contact Travelocity for re-booking." That's not gonna be fun.
in regard to Travel insurance thru the airline or Travelocity, that's a waste of money. If you can't afford the minimal coverage it MIGHT give you for lost luggage or trip delay, you can't afford to travel. And the coverage for accidental death - gimme a break.
The travel insurance one REALLY needs when they leave the country is
medical and evacuation.. Because - guess what! Your U.S. health inside is extremely unlikely to cover those expenses. Have a serious medical problem or accident overseas? Quick way to bankruptcy when you finally get home.
