Hi all,

Can anyone suggest a good place for a lakefront vacation, to be combined with a visit to NYC this summer?

We are a British family living in Texas for a year or two and would like to see some of the North in the summer. We thought of flying to New York to see the city for a couple of days, then getting a car and driving north to stay by one of the Lakes for a week or two.

Any ideas gratefully received!!!

many thanks

Default Lake George & Saratoga Springs

Lake George or Saratoga Springs is where you want to go. Lake George is 200 miles north of NYC perhaps a 4-5 hour drive. The have fishing, watersking and river rafting all available up there. Lake George is within a protected park and the terrain is unspoiled. While you are up there you owe it to yourself to visit Saratoga Springs the two areas are very close. There is a great old racetrack up there untouched from the 1860's. The racing and town Of Saratoga is top class and much of NY society spends the summer in Saratoga.

The Adirondack's is definitely the place to go.

Do Lake George for a day trip but look into surrounding towns-Schroon Lake, Loon Lake,Lake Placid is awesome, Saratoga is beautiful.
