Both went under within two days of each other. We are left in a lurch as we were flying both on a trip to Hawaii this Summer. We have our credit card dealing with trying to get our money back but as of yesterday they told us ATA was no refunding any money. I am not sure on Skybus since we have to wait until Monday to handle it. If we don't get our money back we will be out $7K! I am so upset!

This looks like a pretty good reason to stick with a quality name brand when spending that kind of money.

I know that if I need a major life threatening surgery, I won't be shopping around for the cheapest doctor.

I've also heard that some credit card companies are not even accepting disputes for either of these. I used my citicard and they accepted my dispute conditionally as is standard practice. I had flights booked on Skybus for July and had to rebook on another airline for almost 2x the price!

Not at all surprising about Skybus, albeit the fact that the demise came a little quicker than expected.

Default the silliest airline ever

Skybus was a horrific idea. The flight attendants made min wage and had to sell potato chips and pepsi to make commissions. Columbus to NYC and they strand you at Stewart airport upstate? Columbus to Boston and you are dispatched to Portsmouth New Hampshire in the middle of nowhere. This airline went from boring cities to more boring cities. At least fly from places with transient populations or businessmen. Then there were the silly charges $12 to check a bag, $15 to board the plane in the first group or $5 to speak to a phone rep. Even the bathroom had a charge $3 for number one or $6 for number two.
