I'm staying at Hyatt Regency Orlando on i-drive. The self-parking is 25 USD per night(plus tax I believe?).
I decided to park my car in the Pointe Orlando parking garage for 10 USD. It's not too far from the hotel but you need to walk extra 7-8 minutes.
The weather is pretty good, I don't really mind the hiking.
I'm not familiar with this hotel but I have been to Orlando (too many times).
There are many reasons that Orlando sucks (in my opinion). ONE of them is the fact that there are often no sidewalks that make it possible to safely walk from one place to another.

It's a pretty solid hotel, but they charge a resort fee(like everybody else in Orlando) and expensive parking fee. Their pools are wonderful, though.
Pointe Orlando happens to be next to the hotel area and it's absolutely safe to walk between them.
I too prefer walkable cities. But there are not many walkable cities in the U.S.
By the way, I just drove back from Miami. I prefer Orlando! Miami is a nasty city where people are rude, drivers are reckless, weather is a bit too humid. But Miami has a ton of great Latin American/Cuban/Venenula food. I don't think I'll vacation in Miami again.
Depending on the neighborhood you need to walk through, the walk can be the best part of the day.
We once took a cruise that stopped in Ketchikan. They had a bus ride to the totem pole exhibit that struck us as exorbitant. It was only a mile or so from the ship, so we walked.
That was the best walk, and one of our favorite memories of Alaska. We felt like we got to see a real side of Ketchikan, a few interesting stores, eagles, and some nice ocean views. By the time we got to the totem poles we felt like we had a better understanding of some of the images on the poles. Because we got to the poles between bus groups, we also felt comfortable taking a longer time looking at them. Much more interesting than just seeing the inside of a bus and then a quick 5 minutes looking at the exhibit.
Plus, I was glad to get some extra exercise after all that cruise food.

Not sure about your itinerary, but with the I-Drive Trolley, you probably could have gone totally without the car for a while.

I considered that option. But I split my time between Orlando and Miami area, so I need a car anyway. Also, the cheapest car I could get was from MCO airport location, less than 200 a week(not including the tolls,). The ride from MCO to I-drive also costs some money.
While I like I-drive and the hotel, I find most restaurants along I-Drive Trolley route bland. Even though I prefer restaurants in Miami(tons of authentic Latin American food!), there are plenty of interesting places to eat in Orlando outside touristy I-Drive.
