Almost always when traveling abroad, Iím ready to go home at day 11. DH prefers more than 2 weeks, so we usually compromise at right around 2 weeks.

When I take a 'real' vacation, it's no less than two weeks and it's always overseas.

I might take a day off and combine it with the weekend for a three day trip, but that would be somewhere close either by car or plane. I don't consider those vacation.

Two weeks for overseas is minimum as you need time for traveling, adjusting, etc. Three weeks maximum. Any more than that and I tend to get bored and burned out and ready to come back home.

Tried three weeks in Europe, exhausted.

I don't want to travel to Europe again unless I have to.

Interesting thoughts on this. Those of you wanting to travel for a month or more are nuts! Not for me but to each their own. For those of you who did travel a month or more, were you in the same area or was it a situation like backpacking across Europe?

It depends on whether you intend to lie on the same beach every day (8 days is plenty), or visit several different countries on your itinerary (four weeks).

One time we went to Hawaii for two weeks instead of one. After 10 days I was getting antsy and was ready to head home.

10 days - domestic
14 days - abroad

But it all depends on your budget. Surely nothing shorter than 8 days.

I really want to live in another city for a few months, but I can't imagine constantly moving for a month or more.

It depends where you are going and also how far away it is from you. In general for long distance trips between 10 days to a month. For closer trips a long weekend (up to 4 days) may be sufficient.

Obviously distance and locale make a difference. I like Vegas but more than a few days is enough, especially since it's a short flight to get there....now, India or Australia? Absolutely three weeks minimum! And if you're stringing together several cities or countries, add weeks accordingly.
