NYC - Guangzhou got 3 meals
NYC - Lima got 3 meals
NYC - Taipei got 3 meals

But on some European trips I did not. It depends on the airline and flight duration.

I guess the longest flight I've ever taken in economy was LAX->SYD and I recall 2 meals plus a snack. And as others have said, if hungry in-between there was a basket full of various things (or you could just ask the flight attendant).

The foreign carriers still generally have better food, and more choices, than the US Domestic carriers.

Interesting about the second one. Isn't that "only" around 8 or so hours in the air? If I recall correctly the other 2 are around 45 minutes longer than LAX to SYD.

Anyway, most airline food is inedible and if you're in economy, even more so. Bring food.
Some airlines' food, even for Economy Class, is very edible. Some even have printed menu on every seat and some are even designed by 5-Star hotel chef.

That time I didn't bring food for my kids because I had traveled on the same route with a different carrier which provided quite delicious food. I expected its competitor to provide same kind of service.

LATAM has printed menus. The food was pretty good too.

IMO even for Economy Class, meals or snacks should be provided in the interval of every 5-6 hours on the long haul flight. Actually that is what we have at home.

But since we have been abused by the airlines so much in recent years, maybe some think otherwise.

That truly is pathetic- I've flown that route and it's a long one, but was fortunate enough to be in Business Class (employer paid for it).

I travel with protein bars- it cuts down on spending in the airport, where the prices are crazy, and can eat one when needed.

I believe Singapore did this on my recent trip from LAX to ICN, I did not eat the third meal as it was just too much... they served some snack in between as well.
