I recently took a trip to Asia that involved a back-to-back 8 hour leg + 12 hour leg with a 2 hour layover in between. Coming back, I took a flight leaving at midnight, and prior to that I had spent all of the day outside exploring and having fun. Well, it didn't dawn on me that I hadn't showered since I had left my hotel at 7 a.m. the previous morning (so 17 hours of sweating). I started smelling on the first leg of the trip back, and by the second leg I was reeking. I felt sorry for the passengers around me.

So in the future, I'll take morning flights coming back as I will head straight from the hotel to the airport. Yes, there can be airport lounges with showers, but a.) they are often expensive and b.) sometimes they don't exist or you have to be a part of some club to use them. It's just safer to schedule a morning return flight.

Simple solution ... baby wipes, and travel sized dry shampoo if necessary.

I often use public airport lounges for showers (Changi (Singapore) has (3) )

Many major airports have available showers / hourly lounged for <$20.

I try to take my flights and transit during darkness hours. As a farm kid... 'burning daylight' on anything that can be done at night... is a Cardinal Sin.

You shouldn't reek after only 17 hours. Wear only cotton fabrics and don't overdress.

Sometimes a morning flight will be more expensive than a midnight flight, something to consider in your planning.

As stated above, baby wipes, disposable toothbrush, small deodorant or spring for a shower.

That’s why I have a bottle of French Lavender oil with me always. My husband used it once.

You'd turn down a couple hundred dollars lower fare because you can't have a shower?

I've been of bus trips longer than that. Chicken buses, with goats on my lap. You need to steel yourself against such emergencies.

It depends on the person and the ambient temperature.

Generally in all months except July/August I don't smell before 24 hours factoring in normal walking and no heavy lifting or other strenuous activities.

Shaving your body hair helps along with EO lavender alcohol wipes. Odor is caused by bacteria on the skin, so simply kill the bacteria every 6-8 hours depending on how much oils your skin produces naturally. My skin is dry so typically it takes me a long time to stink.

One can take a small deodorant in their carry-on and then simply apply it in the bathroom if one needs to for a long trip.
