I always consider the type of plane I’m booking, sometimes for the seating arrangement, sometimes because it will improve my upgrade chances (i.e. number of business class seats) and sometimes because I like to try new planes. Later this year, I’m looking forward to flying on one of Delta’s new A220s.
The only plane I hate flying is the Boeing 787, but not because of safety issues. I hate those dimmable windows that the crew dim based on their whims, and if you want to reset them to normal mode, you can't until the crew decides that you can. I've been on westbound transatlantic flights during the day when the crew dim them to make it look like night, which totally screws up my body clock. If it's daytime outside, keep the god-damn windows open/undimmed. Anyone who wants to nap can always bring along an eyeshade. If you travel without eyeshades and earplugs, you shouldn't be allowed on a plane anyway.
I'd rather take my chances with the 737-Max. If it's my time to go, it's my time to go. At least let me have a good view of the ground!

I really do believe Boeing will get to the bottom of their 737-Max jets. I have all confidence in the airline industry, especially in the USA. Are some of you savvy flyers? Do you check out the type of plane you will be flying on?
You have confidence? Friends of mine who are flight attendants are not. I never before thought about the type of jet I was taking, just get me from place to place. Loved being able to choose my seat and since, in the last 10 years or so, my flights have been three hours or less didn't worry so much about that. I won't board a 737-Max jet. Pilots are complaining about them. The jets have been grounded in several countries. There is something wrong.
I usually know what kind of aircraft I'm flying on, but only because I make the effort to find out. I don't really have any preference as to aircraft, but I was pleasantly surprised recently to find that on a short hop, I'd been "upgraded" from a Beechcraft 1900D commuter flight to a Bombardier Q400 commuter flight. The Q400 was much quieter, faster, more roomy, and I found that I enjoyed the flight, rather than suffered through it.
Aircraft type (make, model, etc.) should be available from your online itinerary. OP, I'd suggest that you make the effort too, and find out what you're in for.

It's grounded in almost all major countries except for the US and Canada.
