What are some your biggest travel annoyances?

For me it is:
-Potential to be scammed
-Places charging higher fees for tourists than nationals

Panhandlers/gypsies/beggars at popular tourist attractions. Visited Rome a few years back with my then 2-year-old daughter and two seniors (my mother and mother in law). It was incredibly annoying to be constantly approached and asked for money, as we were a particularly vulnerable group. There are so many gorgeous churches in Rome, and after a short while it became not worth the hassle to try and lug a stroller upstairs past a too close for comfort beggar just to see the inside of a church. I support charities for the homeless and people in need, but HATE being obstructed from enjoying a travel experience by someone unwantedly approaching us.

There is something called the 'jewelry store scam' in Thailand for example.

People are the problem. All people. Cranky locals, talky locals, taciturn locals, fellow travelers of all stripes, train conductors, flight attendants, pilots with affected Texas accents, waiters....

Traveling would be so much better without people.

OP's annoyances are not even on my list.

ENTIRELY avoidable. You voluntarily entered that jewelry store.

My pet peeve? People on the TSA line bitching about it. Whether the line is long or short, doesn't matter, somebody is complaining. Yeah, it's a PITA. Yeah, it's an imperfect system. And yeah, I'm one of those annoying people who say thank you to the TSA agents. Anything that is instituted to keep me and my family safe is fine by me.

Right there with you! People who get into line with a giant chip on their shoulder, 'ready to rumble' if a TSA agent so much as looks sideways at them.

And the people doing the most #itching are usually the ones doing the least traveling. The frequent flyers typically have no problems with TSA. We recognize that they're just doing a job, and people treat them like dirt. I've NEVER had a problem, and frequently find myself enjoying pleasant and even amusing exchanges with them while in line.

On long-distance eastward-heading flights, such as the US to Europe, those people who want to drink and talk even after the cabin lights are turned off.

Air travelers that don't have a clue how to go through security, don't have their boarding pass/ID's out when required, groups 5-9 passengers being gate lice when groups 1-4 are boarding, dont know how to properly place their carry on in the overhead to conserve space, etc......... Other than that, I'm a happy camper!
