We have taken 2 Viking River Cruises. Both fine. However, I cannot get them to stop mailing me catalogues and offers. I was able to unsubscribe from emails. Each week, I get 2-5 marketing portfolios or mailers. I have phoned their customer service multiple times and each time get promises to stop, I have emailed them, I have used a 3rd party (Catalog Choice) to register my destain and request they stop. No luck.

For this reason, as we plan our next adventure, I won’t be a Viking customer again.

I've never been on Viking. I've never been on a cruise. I'm not really interested in going on a cruise. Somehow I ended up on the list and get these mailers with the same level of frequency.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the Chase United Visa that I got a few months ago.

We have done one Viking cruise, on the Rhine, we both loved it & I hope to do another one (France)in the next few years, the brochures on;t bother me, I like to look though them at the pictures.

If I enjoyed the cruise line, I wouldn't let aggressive marketing stop me, from taking another one, that is like cutting off your nose, to spite your face.

Plus if you cruise with another company, then you are going to get double the amount of brochures.

How much do ya think all those pretty, glossy marketing materials and postage add to the cost of their expensive cruises? And shall we talk about killing trees next?

I've been unsuccessful getting them stopped, too. And it DOES reduce (maybe even eliminate) my interest in cruising with them. Many other choices.

I also have used Viking and several “other” companies; they all send updated trip books and advertisings. The cost has to be high however they are focused on those who travel and might want the material. I agree with would be nice if “all” the companies reduced the amount of advertising but I don’t think that will ever happen.
