I suspected something like this. Didn't the same thing happen in Cozumel a year or so ago? I drink water, soda or juice (sometimes a beer) from sealed containers so, no, I really don't worry about things like this when overseas.

I'm NOT paranoid about this. (I am confident that anyone who knows my travel history and what I eat/drink on those trips would agree.)

But I will say this: you're sorely incorrect if you think a "sealed container" is 100% safe.

Certain locations are well know for resealing water bottles. Hyperdermic needles can easily puncture some containers. Don't you ever drink iced tea, coffee, an alcoholic drink or glass of wine, eat a salad?

I realize those are all extreme examples. But your sense of false security is misplaced.

Nothing is 100% safe.

I don't drink coffee at all, I might try a mixed drink or a glass of wine, I don't remember ever drinking iced tea out of the country, and I don't care for most salads, so I would not order one.

I don't have a false sense of security, nor do I have an unreasonable paranoia. Mod cut.

so this OP is just pure specualtion.

Costa rica is a different story, they have the evidence.
