Im not sure how much luggage you can bring but I wouldnt push my luck by trying to bring everything under the sun.
As for the shower thing, forget it. You dont. Not unless you have an hour layover somewhere and bring your own toiletries so you can 'sponge bathe' in a bathroom somewhere. Why do you think so many people on those busses smell so bad after just a day or so....can you imagine someone who's been on that ride for 3 or 4 days??

I would rather walk, than take a Greyhound!
maybe you can look around to see if anyone is driving your way
and maybe split the costs?

LUGGAGE: The only source of an accurate and reliable answer to how much luggage is Greyhound. Visit their website and get the answer, or get the 800 phone number and ask them, or if you've already bought your ticket read the back of the ticket and other paperwork they gave you. Greyhound is the only source of the correct and reliable answer.
SHOWER: You can't shower on a bus. So don't eat red meat or bacon for 24 hours before you leave; shower and shampoo before you leave where you're living now; and use Mitchum deodorant, which is the only one that actually works completely. After a day, at a time when you're in the rest room on the bus reapply the Mitchum. You'll be fine.
Life is an unfolding and changing adventure. Enjoy it!!

You can eliminate the need for shampooing by shaving your head or buzzing it very short, and just using wipes. It's easier to clean all areas of the body when you shave the body hair off first. (I can get cleaner with quick-wipe towels than most people who take a shower.)
I second the Mitchum deodorant idea. Use a lot of it the first day and it will last more than a day. Their motto is, "So effective you can even skip a day."

Maybe the OP is taking greyhound out of neccessity and not that they want to. I have taken greyhound once or twice in my life and thank God I can afford to fly or Amtrak, bike or walk. I could never do it again at this point.
OP good luck and two days is not that bad. Just get you some of those personal wipes and like some said when they lay over somewhere go into the bathroom and freshen up.

Man, everyone's so anti-Greyhound. I think it's a great experience. I mean, I'm glad I have a car now, but I think everyone should go through a stage in their life where all you can afford is Greyhound. Makes you a stronger person, and makes you appreciate what you have once you have a car.
Anyway, I went through that stage in college, and it really wasn't that bad. Most of the buses are sparsely populated, so you've got plenty of room to stretch out. Bring a book and headset, you'll be fine.

Ha ha..I was going to say the same thing. Greyhound is horrible, period. Some of the rudest and incompetent employees ever.
