California Route 1 is great, but it doesn't end in San Francisco. It goes much further north through redwood country. You can't exclude that region when discussing natural beauty.

1. Utah 12 through Capital Reef
2. Alaska's Seward Highway
3. US-50 in Nevada aka the Loneliest Road in America (it is a long stretch of nothingness, but there are scenic views here and there.
