The Road to Hana is the most interesting and scenic drive I have ever taken. I only regret that we left the CD behind that narrated you the way through it. It's not for the faint of heart though - it was an extremely challenging drive.

I would second the Blue Ridge Pkwy and the California Coastline for scenic as well.

The road to Hana is so much like CA Hy 1 from San Luis Obispo to Carmel, except Maui is lush and green, while Hy 1 is barren and not very green. LOL

Harrowing is the perfect word to describe both.

I personally disliked driving both but the views were spectacular. Too bad the road is too nauseating to enjoy the views. LOL

I don't know the Highway, but it's when you are near the Catskill Mountains of New York State before you enter Western Massachusetts.
Also, Hwy 1 from Big Sir to Carmel.

There is absolutely no way to give only 3 possibilities for a country as large and as varied as the US (which is one of the reasons why I love this country!). So I'm going to give mine by categories:

CITY DRIVES:
1. Lakeshore Drive in Chicago
2. The Las Vegas Strip
3. Constitution Ave in Washington DC

COASTAL DRIVES:
1. US 1 from Miami to Key West
2. Pacific Coast Hwy in California (all of it)
3. State Hwy 12, Outer Banks of NC

MOUNTAIN DRIVES:
1. Blue Ridge Pkwy (NC and VA)
2. Seward Hwy (AK)
3. Going to the Sun Road, Glacier NP

DESERT VISTAS (like in the movie CARS):
1. State Hwy 12 in Utah
2. State Hwy 14 in NM
3. State Hwy 67 in AZ

All of the above! Plus, I'd like to add Route 7 that runs though Western CT, MA and VT (ESPECIALLY during the Fall foliage time!)

I'm a little intrigued by Cermak. Any particular reason you went with that?
