Boston to Nepal, almost a month. Can't spend a dollar over there, things are so cheap, but transport to get there and guides/staff for trekking were about $5K. Worth every penny.
If regular trips aren't expensive enough, you can always go horseback riding wherever you go. That'll kick the fees right up. It's the only kind of trip I feel like taking these days, riding in the American West.
My most expensive vacation has to be our trip to Maui for 10 days.
We stayed at one of the better (if not one of the best) hotels, signed up for a lot of excursions, and shopped a lot.
We had spend 10 K by the time we were done.
11 days in the British Virgin Islands. First week was spent learning to sail and living aboard a 43' yacht. Then we spent a night in a hotel on Tortola before ferrying over to Virgin Gorda and renting a fabulous villa for the last few days. Total spend probably came out to somewhere around $6000 for the two of us...worth every penny!

We did something similar, in the same location, except we did not stay overnight in Virgin Gorda, and we had a crewed yacht, breakfast, lunch and dinner cooked for us for 9-10 days.
We also paid more because it was us plus our two kids.
We were two yachts, this was sort of a mini-family reunion.
My husband loved it, I liked it. Beautiful place. Full Moon Party was fun.
But man, that partying. There are a lot of Jimmy Buffet types out there.
I just could not keep up with that kind of drinking night after night.
These happy posts prove that dream vacations, or at least dreamy vacations, are something we should be doing frequently!!
My most recent dream vacation was six weeks of a spiritual journey in Peru last Spring, preceded by a week at Busch Gardens and SeaWorld in Florida! Getting to Lima is simplest from Miami; so if I'm forced to endure Florida weather, I might as well be with the birds and the animals, and love it!! For one person including guides everywhere except Florida, good+ accommodations, some gourmet meals which I will remember with longing all my life, I spent around $7k.
The Andes -- THE ANDES!!! -- were astonishing. Peru was friendly and serene, thrilling, exotic and breathtaking, and filled with wondrous animal and hummingbird experiences. Spiritual wandering in Peru is at elevations from over 6,500 ft. to at least 13,500 ft. -- you're up in the Andes and there are short mountaintops around you all the time. The apus, the spirits of the mountains, are felt everywhere, and the daily morning clouds hug the mountains tightly like small children. My visit with the leading shaman of Peru who is the current Steward Of The Earth, changed my life in ways I didn't expect, or even realize, until the changes in my perspective began to unfold.
With the birds and animals in Florida, joyous tears were constantly welling up in me. Leopard Seals 10 feet away gazing intently into my eyes. Tiny bright-red Scarlet Ibises claiming right-of-way walking across the path right in front of my feet. A Polar Bear ambling past me two inches from my arm, leaning against the thick glass that I was leaning on. And I got to pet a girl Megellanic Penguin named Fred!! On two different days!! Dream of a lifetime!!
our honeymoon to italy for 25 days--$5000
we drove ourselves around and then also visited family along the way. we started in Milan and drove all the way down to sicily. and that was when it was still LIRE-and $1 got you 2000 lire! imagine now? ouch!
My husband and I went to NYC for a week in March of 2006... between airfare, hotel, shows, and meals we easily spent 5K. But it was wonderful!!!
Wow!
I've budgeted about $2,700 for my upcoming trip to Spain and Morocco (26 days). In addition to that $2,700, there was $950 in airfare, so about $3,700.
