News, With cell phones on planes, silence is golden.
Readers respond to recent columns looking at pros, cons of cell-phone use.
Five years ago — a lifetime in our high-tech world — one of my friends told me she was appalled at the idea of sending electronic mail instead of taking pen to paper or making a long-distance call. I think the best thing to do if a nearby neighbor is talking too loudly, is to turn to them, and pay close attention to the conversation! Really, show your interest in what they are saying--throw out your own comment or two, where appropriate! After all, THEY are the ones who've made this a "public" conversation! Join in!
