OK so I have been stalking AA for a trip to MEM-LAX in the next few weeks and the tickets were going up. So I "rationalized" with myself that the prices would just keep going up. So I bought the tickets this past Monday for 172 each way and with taxes and fees it was around 400. WHY tonight I get on the site just being curious. The tickets were 117 each way!!!!! OOOOOOOOOOOOH I am soooo mad!!!!! And I am such a budget freak and I am totally p-OED that I spent so much more for the same tickets.....OK just needed to vent!!!!!! *evil mean mug*

I plan to take vacations in PV Mexico next February and I wonder -taking into account the rise in fuel prices, 127 $ the barrel I gather, - if it's not wiser to buy my airplane ticket right now - what do you think?

airline travel is strange ( pricing that is )

I monitor through Travelocity ( St Cloud MN to Atlanta ) . About a week ago they took a --huge-- jump in price.

Two days ago the e-mail alert that notifies me of price drops, had the price $104 --less-- than a week ago.
??????????????

I have been watching Delta.com for tickets from ATL- BOS and/or ATL-JFK or the end of June. Every day, sometimes twice a day, the schedule and price changes dramatically. I think I'm going to go ahead and buy em today and I won't look back. The industry has become so hard to predict.

You can usually get to LAX from MEM for less than $250 if you plan right and can adapt to different times and days of the week. I've gotten it for less than $200 before. You need to know how to search different times and dates, it's always been $117 or less each way, I know because I travel out there 4 or 5 times a year. Why AA? Take Northwest and get out there non-stop.

Also, Little Rock is cheaper. It's a 2 hour drive from MEM but they have cheaper flights to LAX, sometimes dramatically cheaper, (and also you don't have to pay the ripoff $11 a day to park at the airport).

The only tickets that never seem to drop in price are first class ones.

Dd714 mentions Little Rock airport.

A couple yers ago on tv ( Sunday Morning I believe) they did a segment on a bus service that ran a bus from Memphis to Little Rock airport. The air fares for anything flying west was --way-- cheaper flying out of Little Rock vs flying out of Memphis that people were using the bus.
