You might want to try this. FlightAware - Free Flight Tracker - IFR Flight Status, Tracking, History, Maps

I went to google, and typed flight tracker. There were a few different options.

I'm not understanding... are you trying to see flight frequencies/city pairs so you know your options when you make your reservations, or are you talking about the flight plan route itself, so that you know what you're looking at out of the window?

The flight plan route. I would like to know what I'm looking at.

You'll be able to get a gist by looking sites like www.trackaflight.com, FlightArrivals.com: Comprehensive US & Canadian Flight Arrivals, Departures, Delays and Cancellations!, which will show a map for you with a general outline of the flight plan. Note that there's a bit of a lag, as I believe there's an FAA mandated 10 minute minimum delay, so it's not 100 percent real time.

This will give you the gist of where you'll be flying over, although flight plans aren't set in stone over time. Many are the same day in and day out, but they may change at a moment's notice for variables such as weather, traffic, or the availability of a direct route. Therefore, there is no way to say with 100 percent certainty that a certain route always flies the same plan. Therefore, just because you track a flight tomorrow and see it's path doesn't mean it's the same route that will be taken the next day. Likely, but not 100 percent. Furthermore, deviations may occur during flight as weather progresses, traffic occurs, etc.

So, those sites may give a general idea so at least you'll know "I'll be flying over Arizona, so look out for the grand canyon," but they won't be accurate enough to be able to say "that city out there is Bozeman, MT."

Really, aside from major cities that are geographically distinctive, or cities with navaids that are pertinent to the flight, even the folks up front may have to break out the SAC/WAC charts to know precisely what town is down there...

Hope this helps a little
