The higher the fuel costs go and the more commitments each of you have as you get older, the truer this will become. Don't assume that another opportunity like this will arise.

The better planned, the better the trip and the better the memories.

Just a few tips for coming to Las Vegas, I'm assuming you will take Hwy 93 at Kingman, AZ Be sure to fuel up in Kingman and get water and snacks, there's not many places to stop in the next 100 miles. It's a four lane divided highway until about 20 miles from the dam then it's two lanes. There is a security check point you will have to go through, if they can see inside your vehicle they will let you pass. Otherwise they will make you stop. The dam is a site to see if you have time.
Also there could be delays at the dam because of construction. When you finally get to Vegas, to drink or gamble you have to be 21. If you have to gamble set a limit and when you lose all that do something else. Be careful, watch your walet and your money, and have fun in Vegas.

Bob certainly gave a great deal of feedback and thanks for that but the rest of you were helpful too. My hubby and I are seniors and now retired and want to start achieving the many things on our "bucket list". We want to travel from Delaware to Michigan, Wisc, MO, WY, UT, CO, NM and head on home via KY and TN. We are on social security and will be taking our dog (pug) with us. In reading your postings, I can see that we might have to tweek some of our plans because of the expenses. We have never done this cross country trip and appreciate your feedback. We have been to the west coast and AZ and no need to go there again. I guess my question to you is whether or not you have touched the states we are looking at and what you would recommend given the information I just posted.

Many thanks!

It's fun to drive the westcoast! I have done it several times! It is very nice, just a few showers in the N.W. Seattle, Wa. on down to Northern, Ca. Not bad! The passes should be easy this time of year. They don't seem to get snowy until later in November to December time frame. Now is a good time to see the fall leaves change on the Hwy 101, I-5 or drive the coast down to Phoenix, Az. to play in the sun! I am excited to be driving to Texas! Hooray! I love Texans and everyone there has told me, not to worry about tornados this time of year! I hope my trip will be a fun one!

Sincerely, Looking forward to Texas! Yipee!
