Hello, I would like to take my family to Newport Rhode Island in July. Can someone please give me advice on what mansions to see. Also is there any areas of interest from Southern New Jersey to Rhode Island? I thank you for your help!

The two "must sees" are the Breakers and Marble House. After that, you can pick and choose which ones look most interesting to you. I would not recommend seeing too many in one day like I did though, because then your memories of them will blend together and you won't be able to remember which is which!

As for places to see along the way... there is the city of New Haven with Yale University and some interesting museums. Mystic, CT is nice and has an Aquarium.

The Cliff Walk too!!!!!!!! It's really neat.

I believe JFK & Jackie married at the church in Newport.

Second the Cliff Walk - beautiful water views, and you can see the BACKS of all the great houses. If you have time, I also suggest taking the ferry over to Block Island for a day. Beautiful place, with beaches and places to eat and great for kids.
